letter openers
Could your business benefit from a letter opener?
Letter openers come in all different shapes and sizes and can perform a number of tasks, from simply slitting one edge of the envelope to actually extracting the contents of your mail and presenting it to you.
If you are sometimes missing your targets and deadlines for work to be turned around it may be because you are not actually receiving your mail until late morning due to the length of time it takes to open, extract and sort your mail every day.
Main things to consider when choosing a letter opener
The mistake a lot of people make when trying to decide which letter opener is right for them is looking at the cycle speed of the machines and not a lot else. A machine may be able to slit open 40K letters an hour but if it then takes 5 people 4 hours to sort through you mail and get it to the relevant person it may not be the right model for you.
You really have to look at the whole process of what has to happen to a document once it has been received, the main things to consider are:
- Do you have to extract the contents?
- Are all of the contents the same?
- Do the documents need to be date / time stamped?
- Are the documents going to be scanned straight away?
- Do you have deadlines to consider?
- How many people are there to open the mail?
- What are the consequences of missing your deadlines?
